Bedstraw

Bedstraw
Galium (wrightii ?)

Family: Madder (Rubiaceae)

Size: 4 lobes at right angles to 1/8 in. wide in small clusters from leaf axils.

Date: 8/02/2001

Other names:

Notes: Insert in the lower left corner is a larger scale picture of the flower. From the detailed descriptions and pictures I have available, especially given the deep red flowers, this bedstraw is not common bedstraw, northern bedstraw or desert bedstraw. I have made the assumption that it is the same bedstraw as found on the Audubon Research Ranch. More than a dozen species of Galium in Arizona.

This plant is found on the Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch Working Check list of flora.
